Chloroxylenol of .5% suppresses a broad spectrum of micro-organisms. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has determined that chloroxylenol (P-Chloro-M-Xylenol or "PCMX") is effective against gram-positive and gram-negative microbes, mycobacteria, fungi, and viruses.
